Electrolysis is the only method approved by the FDA for permanent hair removal. At ND Skin Clinic , we use the top of the range Sterex SX-B Blend Epilator, which can be used to remove hair using the following techniques  Shortwave Diathermy/ Thermoloysis, Blend and Galvanic

Can be an expensive, can be uncomfortable (on top lip) and time consuming. Electrolysis removes the hair one by one. Because all of the hair isn’t on the same stage at any given time, some hairs have to be removed more than once.

The Blend epilation technique is the blend of both the diathermy and galvanic currents. This technique is most effective technique and it is less uncomfortable than diathermy alone, although it takes slightly longer.  Additionally, the blend is able to more successfully treat curved and distorted follicles , the larger, course and deeply rooted hairs also, suit to use for any  Fitzpatrick’s skin types  1-6

The Diathermy / thermolysis method destroys the hair follicle by heat or electro-coagulation. Thermolysis SWD is ideally suited for thin, shallowly rooted hairs as upper lip . However, its usefulness greatly degrades with the larger, course and deeply rooted hairs that generally comprise the typical male beard.
